NEWS AND EVENTS
The Farmer’s House 2015 Summer Enrichment Camp was fun and purposeful for all participants. The camp allowed for individualization and cooperative learning opportunities to be embedded throughout engaging recreational, leisure and work activities. The theme for the week was “Patriotism” and Farmers (participants with developmental disabilities) made many red, white and blue crafts which included windsocks, pom-poms and name plates. Baked delicious and healthy treats; chocolate chip zucchini muffins, apple pops, and confetti bars. And the unanimous favorite activity of the week was making Shake Ice Cream!!!! All activities require Farmers to measure, print, cut, socialize, practice manners, work with a team, follow multi-step directions, etc. The activities are designed to focus on vocational skills, social development, physical activity, life skills as well as assist adolescents with transition beyond high school. Topping off the exceptional week, our 17 Farmers, supported by staff and volunteers, hosted our annual “Family Fun Dinner” serving hot dogs, macaroni salad, watermelon, lemonade and sweet treats. The “Family Fun Dinner” highlights abilities and is a time to share with family and friends. All Farmers received certificates for their “Contribution to making the week Exceptional”.
