Providing vocational exploration and job skills development experiences for middle and high school students in the context of our Social Enterprises–retail markets, gardens, commercial kitchens and catering.
Early Work Experience (EWE) prepares students for employment by fostering hard and soft job skills. Upon graduation, students are equipped and ready to thrive in the workforce. EWE also serves as a foundation for our adult programs including Community Integration and Employment Services.
Program activities occur during the school day in our retail markets where students participate in small group sessions. Skill building activities center around retail, catering/commercial kitchens and basic horticulture functions. Sessions are led by our EWE Specialists with support from classroom teachers, ensuring personalized guidance and skill-building

Transportation to our program is provided by participating school districts.
During the summer, we offer schools Extended School Year Services. Summer programming is available for students with an open case through the Kansas City Regional Office, Platte County Board of Services, or EITAS.
Enrollment in the Early Work Experience program is subject to availability and meeting admission criteria. Teachers interested in enrolling their classrooms can request more information by emailing us.
